Becoming a member

Any physiotherapist can become a member as long as he/she has completed a basic training course in acupuncture. Courses accepted by the Association are organized by The Acupuncture Association of Finnish Doctors, Finnish Association of Physiotherapists and FYSI and that provided by docent Pekka J. Pöntinen.

The membership fee is 30 €/year. In addition to the membership fee all new members will be charged a fee of 10 €.

All the payments should be made to the NORDEA account: Membership is registered when a member has paid the membership fee.
Information about the basic training of acupuncture is available at:

1) The Acupuncture Association of Finnish Doctors, Finnish Association of Physiotherapists and FYSI from Fysioterapia-magazine and from FYSI, www.fysi.fi. The training aimed as physiotherapists is divided into five separate modules. In the beginning of the training the emphasis is on understanding the physiology of pain. At the end of the training the emphasis is on the use of acupuncture in practical work with different diagnoses. When a physiotherapist has completed the required 500 reported treatments, he/she can attend the 5. module.

2) Fysiokoulutus / pt Ritva Urrila has organized training by Pekka J. Pöntinen in Tampere. Pekka J. Pöntinen, an anesthesiologist, has also trained doctors in the use of acupuncture. The training provides good opportunities to using acupuncture. More information about this training will be in Fysioterapia-magazine.
